Project Engineer II
Century Conveyor Systems provides automated solutions required to support operations of many expanding companies in the US. Experience:
The Project II Engineer should have at least five (5) years’ experience and understanding of Warehouse and or Factory Automation applications ideally with a specific focus on material handling systems including system design, estimating, and post order project engineering tasks.
Skills:
This position requires an understanding and ability to design/develop/implement automated systems for both distribution and production environments. The Project II Engineer will need to effectively communicate with various disciplines such as Sales, Software/Controls engineers and 3rd party suppliers and end users that will be project specific.
A thorough understanding of the proposed scope of work and the utilization of tools to design and develop costs for projects including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project) and other project related software tools is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with sales engineers to identify and gather the required system design criteria
- Perform system design work using Excel, AutoCad and or vendor drawing tools
- Document all proposal related costs
- Project manage/lead small/medium size jobs
- Perform site visits & inspections as required
- Develop 3rd party vendor RFQ’s
- Check and verify supplier order acknowledgements
- Assist in proposal generation and coordinate final pricing reviews
- Perform post contract detail engineering and approval drawings
- Coordinate tasks with Project Managers on larger jobs
- Support and or lead system commissioning & acceptance testing
- Address and document punch list items required to achieve project closure
- Maintain proper documentation following company guidelines both electronically and hard copy
- Communicate effectively with customers and company management

Century Conveyor Systems Inc. started in 1981 as a conveyor service company, outfitted with a fleet of technician vans repairing systems within the tri-state area. Over the years, Century increased its service capabilities to installation and project management, eventually employing a team of engineers to design warehouse layouts.
In 2017, Century was purchased by Lafayette Engineering Inc. (LEI), a system controls house from Danville, KY. This acquisition by LEI provided access to proprietary controls, nationwide integration abilities, and expanded benefits for employees.
