Project Engineer II

Century Conveyor Systems provides automated solutions required to support operations of many expanding companies in the US. Experience:

The Project II Engineer should have at least five (5) years’ experience and understanding of Warehouse and or Factory Automation applications ideally with a specific focus on material handling systems including system design, estimating, and post order project engineering tasks.  

Skills:

This position requires an understanding and ability to design/develop/implement automated systems for both distribution and production environments. The Project II Engineer will need to effectively communicate with various disciplines such as Sales, Software/Controls engineers and 3rd party suppliers and end users that will be project specific.

A thorough understanding of the proposed scope of work and the utilization of tools to design and develop costs for projects including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project) and other project related software tools is required.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with sales engineers to identify and gather the required system design criteria
  • Perform system design work using Excel, AutoCad and or vendor drawing tools
  • Document all proposal related costs
  • Project manage/lead small/medium size  jobs
  • Perform site visits & inspections as required
  • Develop 3rd party vendor RFQ’s
  • Check and verify supplier order acknowledgements
  • Assist in proposal generation and coordinate final pricing reviews
  • Perform post contract detail engineering and approval drawings
  • Coordinate tasks with Project Managers on larger jobs
  • Support and or lead system commissioning & acceptance testing
  • Address and document punch list items required to achieve project closure
  • Maintain proper documentation following company guidelines both electronically and hard copy
  • Communicate effectively with customers and company management

Field Service Technician I

Century Conveyor Systems provides automated solutions required to support operations of many expanding companies in the US. Experience:

The Technician should have at
least 0-3 years of experience performing electrical and/or mechanical work in an industrial environment. Experience working on material handling equipment is a plus but not required. Must be over the age of 21. 

Position Overview

The Field Service candidate will travel to various customer locations, usually with another Technician to perform service or preventative maintenance work on conveyor equipment/systems. A work vehicle will be available to the technician and be picked up and returned to the South Plainfield office at the end of the work shift daily during the onboarding phase. The technician candidate is expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and professional manner with customers and other Century staff.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Capable of working on jobsites in various types of operational and environmental conditions.
  • Participate in the company onboarding process and training for a minimum of 30 days.
  • Ability to work on equipment at ground level or at greater heights with use of a ladder or man-lifts.
  • Perform basic Mechanical and/or Electrical tasks.
  • Own and maintain and ability to use hand tools for daily routine services and/or repairs.
  • Perform work normally (8) hours per day up to 40 hours per week with the possibility of working overtime hours extending beyond normal hours of operation (Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.). This could also include occasional weekend or Holiday work as required.
  • Large majority of services will be performed in the Tri-State area but on occasion will require out of state travel and overnight stays. The company reimburses the costs for hotels, flights, transportation, and per diem.
  • Properly measure all components (i.e.: rollers, belts, bed frames, shafts, supports, etc.)
  • Understanding of applicable jobsite safety requirements.

For Technical College Students

Conveyors, like any machine, require routine maintenance and service to operate as intended. Century Conveyor has over 40 years of conveyor service experience, and is very much capable of teaching a junior technician the basics of material handling equipment.

From there, Century will develop your skills, gain experience, and broaden your horizons on the industry of supply chain automation and material handling equipment.

About Century

Century Conveyor Systems Inc. started in 1981 as a conveyor service company, outfitted with a fleet of technician vans repairing systems within the tri-state area. Over the years, Century increased its service capabilities to installation and project management, eventually employing a team of engineers to design warehouse layouts. 

In 2017, Century was purchased by Lafayette Engineering Inc. (LEI), a system controls house from Danville, KY. This acquisition by LEI provided access to proprietary controls, nationwide integration abilities, and expanded benefits for employees.
